In the world today, we have seen a major shift from getting news from newspapers to social media such as Tik Tok. Applications like Tik Tok are producing constant media where sources are not factual, educating or insightful. LINKED is aimed to encourage the younger generation to stop getting their news from apps such as Tik Tok and instead start reading into topics they are interested in. Leaving the user feeling thoroughly informed and fulfilled with educational information about their interests. LINKED has six main categories, latest, travel, art and photography, life and culture, music and fashion. These are all main points of topics that the younger generations are watching on Tik Tok.
I wanted to make sure the website did not look dated as the younger generation has a short attention span because of these social media apps and are unlikely to stay long on a website if it isn’t clean and tasteful. Therefore I have used a very simple, yet aesthetically pleasing colour palette of black and white that is easy on the eye. This allows the coloured images to pop and bring the website to life. I have used a bold typeface which is on trend bringing a 2000s feel to the website but still allowing it to be timeless. I have created accessible features such as dark mode, text increase and an option to change to the preferred language to accommodate all.
